Promises

We will provide Sehat Insaf cards and augment the existing BISP programme in these districts.

Government hospitals will be reformed. The management will be reformed. A task force will be formed in Punjab and KPK for that. Health card system will be introduced in whole Pakistan.

We will double the size of the Lady Health Worker (LHW) programme to ensure each woman has access to complete package of LHW services (including family planning, pregnancy management, neonatal care), with adequate training, support and service structure for LHWs.

We will ensure the availability of diagnostic facilities, preventive and curative treatment for communicable diseases such as Hepatitis, Tuberculosis and HIV.

We will double efforts to increase vaccination coverage in provinces with lesser coverage (Balochistan and Sindh in particular).

We will increase number of 24/7 BHUs &RHCs equipped with basic package of services, staff and ambulance service to ensure each village has access to a facility within 10 km radius and reduce the burden on tertiary hospital.

We will launch an incentive programme to attract more doctors, LHWs and nurses to BHUs, particularly in remote locations.

We will establish training institutes for nurses and paramedical staff nationwide.

We will build state of the art hospitals in major urban centres to ensure the best healthcare facilities to the poor.

We will create a mental health policy and champion initiatives to promote and address mental health issues through improve service delivery and research.

3 September 2018

Punjab Specialized Health Care Department approved the extension of health insurance scheme in a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid. Initially, the scheme was limited to 17 districts and now the remaining 19 districts have also been included.

11 September 2018

 Ministry of Health Punjab launched a toll free number to facilitate the public to register their complaints.

Federal Health Minister Aamir Mehmood Kiani, in an interprovincial meeting of health ministers discussed the challenges in the health sector. The members agreed to form an Emergency Nutrition Task Force having representation from all provinces.

President Dr Arif Alvi launched three days anti-polio campaign nationwide. He urged religious scholars to invalidate the misbeliefs about vaccine.

A task force on health was formed to recommend steps on the basis of their evaluation on the current situation in the sector.

All healthcare centres in the capital were placed under the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS). Director General NHS,Dr Asad Hafeez, said that online system had already been introduced at 25 district headquarters hospitals in Punjab and government plans to bring the online system in the federal capital too.
