Promises

PTI will give employment opportunities to youth. They will be taught different skills and will be provided loans without interest. 10 million jobs over 5 years in sectors like SME, housing, ICT, health, education, and tourism will be created.  They will fulfill their promise by:

1.Ensuring that each economic development initiative contributes towards the ‘10 Million jobs’ agenda.

2.Creating labor exchange and regulating the labor market.

3.Creating job placement mechanism supported by private-public partnerships.

4.Ensuring that economic development initiatives will offer Employment Guarantee Schemes with special focus on women and rural areas.

5. Creating an investor-friendly environment for investments in human capital.

6. Implement a technical and vocational education reform programme for upskilling the labor force.

7. Taking strict action against workplace harassment and denying minimum wage.

8. Taking strict action against practices that deny employees social welfare.

28 August 2018

The federal cabinet meeting was held on 28th August under Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss the formation of task force for the purpose of creating 10 million jobs. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the task forces will present their plan in 90-days and the PM will review the performance of these task forces after every 15 days.

KP Senior Minister Atif Khan has directed the starting of the second phase of KP Youth Impact Challenge Programme as soon as possible. In this phase, youth selected on the basis of their business plan will be given cheques to enable them for starting their own business.

10 October 2018

PM Imran Khan has launched ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Program’ (NPHP) at a special ceremony in Islamabad on 10 October.  While addressing the ceremony, he said that it will create employment opportunities as it requires huge manpower and has the potential to attract local and foreign investment. The people recruited will be undergo training and for that seven thousand skills teaching institutes will be established in the country.  The first project under this scheme has been launched for the employees and the registration begins from 11 October.

13 October 2018

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Hussain said that at least six million people will get numerous job opportunities through the Naya Pakistan housing scheme. Mr. Hussain said 100 units in textile sectors would be opened soon, where a large-scale job would be provided to the unemployed people.

Finance Minter Asad Umar said that the government is pursuing an investment-led export growth model in short- and medium-term for providing jobs to youth in a session with foreign investors at the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI).

The Federal Minister for IT informed that to facilitate entrepreneurship, job Creation and innovation in ICT in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar, over 121 startups have been facilitated at different incubation centers, resulting in creation of over 800 jobs and generation of Rs. 319 million (approx.) as revenue.

The PM Youth Programme will launch National job portal and a mobile app to connect skilled people with the potential employers in the country. National Job Portal is to bridge the void between demand and supply sides. On demand side, the portal would link all major local and international job providers like Government departments, Chambers of Commerce and Industries, CPEC Centre of Excellence, Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC), and Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA). On supply side, it would collect data of all certified professionals and graduates of technical and vocational training institutes from Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC), Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) and all provincial TEVTAs and Training bodies across the country. The mobile app would be a GPS-based platform for hiring the services of certified skilled workforce like electrician, plumber, wielder, carpenter, etc.

Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, held a meeting with Mr. Omar Hamid Khan, Secretary Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to develop Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) for the marginalized segments of youth, the women, the disabled and the rural youth through Business Incubation for Self-Employment (BISE), and Direct cash (DC). Under the Business Incubation for Self-Employment (BISE) Model will focus on providing skills and business development support. For those individuals who already have skills will be provided grants for setting the business under DC.

Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ikram Bin Muhammad Ibrahim, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, to discuss avenues of mutual cooperation for youth empowerment through the promotion of technical and vocational training. Mr Ibrahim said that his government is committed for offering scholarships to Pakistani students in Malaysian universities.

Provincial Finance Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taimur Saleem Jhagra, informed that Rs 5billion have been allocated to provide interest-free loans to KP students and Rs1billion for merged areas students to start their own business.

Chairman and Executive Director of National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Javed Hassan briefed the Japanese delegation led by Yasuo Ariga, Deputy Counselor of Overseas for Ministry Labor Japan, on how NAVTTC is giving vocational training to Pakistani youth in accordance with international standards. NAVTTC provides technical training to over 570,000 youth.

The PTI government has planned to develop a Kamyab Jawan Programme in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development Authority. The programme is meant to create one million job opportunities through Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) sector. The  State Bank of Pakistan would take necessary measures to upscale its National Financial Literacy Programme for Youth with the collaboration of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to increase financial literacy.

Muhammad Usman Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs held a meeting with a team of German Development Scheme GIZ to explore various avenues of collaboration for the development of an effective National Job Programme (NJP), an initiative of creating employment opportunities for the youth. It would include vocational training of youth. Moreover, youth trained in in the fields of construction, artificial intelligence, e-mobility and robotics would also be facilitated to seek jobs in the international markets. Prime Minister’s Youth Programme would engage top ranking institutes to impart skills training to youth.

The Job Placement Centre (JPL) has been established in FATA Development Authority Office to help in job placement of trained youth of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with different organizations. Also, for helping the youth of FATA to start business, Akhuwat NGO has been given Rs.500 million funds for interest free loans as a micro- financing. Further, Business Development Grants project has been initiated promoting self-employment. The grant was awarded to 1610 FATA youth for starting their own business.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, Usman Dar, held a meeting with Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director Careem Networks Pakistan to explore the possibility of cooperation for creating employment opportunities for youth in online market place. They agreed to extend Careem employment services to a larger number of youth.

The strategy to connect job seekers with job providers for creating maximum number of job opportunities for the youth under National Job Programme.
